Well essentially what that statement is saying is "A non-hostile relationship with the idea that breeds our enemies is beneficial to our national security", of course a non hostile relationship would be nice, but there is a reason it doesn't and cant exist. Right now, the war on terrorism, we're at war with an idea, and once an idea gets out of someones head, its like an incurable cancer, you can never kill it, there will ALWAYS be someone with that idea as their ideology. So there will always be extremist Muslims that don't CARE how we act, they will find a reason to hate us.
