The only things F/As can really "steal" from passengers are items left behind (by not turning them into lost & found). Personally, my crew has found many wallets & purses left onbard and they were all reunited with the passenger with nothing missing. The usual F/A terminations for theft are for stealing from the airline like removal of liquor or other service items from the aircraft or pocketing of inflight headset or beverage sale money. One United F/A was even fired for taking bottled water off the aircraft.
